I went surfing for the first time, and I have more CD news!! :D

Hello! I have just got back from a great holiday in Newquay with my girlfriend. On one of the days we were there we booked a day of surfing. We had the beginner lessons at 10am for a few hours, then we had a few other hours to be free and do it alone. The sea was really warm too…I have been in the sea a lot in my life, and it was definitely the warmest I’ve ever known it. I was also a little worried about weaver fish because the day before we went surfing, we saw a girl who had been stung by one, and I have heard it is very painful. However luckily neither of us got stung, and we had an awesome day. Ive always thought surfing looked good, but I actually had so much fun, and I would definitely go again. 

Some CD news, I have written a new track, and I have almost finished another (this one is definitely different to anything I’ve done before). I now have an intro to the album which is nearly finished too. I also found something on some old CDs that I did about 5/6 years ago which is a short piano piece, but I am going to put it on the album because it is actually quite nice, and fits in well with the theme of the whole CD. Hopefully tonight I will be going to have some pictures taken, so make sure you head over to my Facebook page to see them 🙂

Hello! So basically, I’ve been having some random ‘likes’ on my ‘Ben Kingwell Music‘ Facebook page recently which is really cool. But one guy commented on a track I shared a little while ago saying it was a great composition. So I thought, I might ask him where he found out about my page. I wasn’t sure if he was going to reply, but yesterday he did, and this is what he said…”that’s a long story…I like Hans Zimmer .. so when i was on his page i’ve seen a link shared by him which is a composition of Habib Zekri… from there I went on to Habib Zekri’s page and there i found out that you were one of his favourites.. and you were one among his list of likes(music)… how’s this journey??“….I got so excited!! I really think that posting music to people and on the right pages, not only on Facebook, but the whole web, can really help get your name out there. Ive been told by a few people that using social media sites won’t help, but I disagree. To be honest, that has been my main source of spreading my music to people, and I believe that if I never used it, I would hardly be known. I would really REALLY appreciate it if you could SHARE this page and maybe even my Facebook page to your friends and family? Every single one of you that actually looks at this, and/or that helps me by sharing my music to people, you all mean so much to me…you are all helping me achieve my only goal in life. I have always dreamed of being a musician, but to write scores for films, would be out of this world. I can’t even explain how much that would mean to me, to see people watching a film with MY music on!! It honestly gives me goosebumps. Please share to anyone and everyone! 🙂 Thank you ALL!

First Trailer!

Hello! As you know I lost a lot of music and data that was on my hard drive, and I was close to giving up on the whole CD. However, I have sorted myself out, and I am really determined to get it finished. I wanted to release something to keep people interested, but didn’t want to give away another whole track. So instead, me and my mum went out and filmed a short trailer which includes small sections of two unreleased tracks. Yes, it is dark, but when the CD is finished, there will be another trailer that will give the viewers/listeners a better of an idea of what to expect. The music that has been finished, and the tracks that are being made now have a lot of emotions, which are very personal to me. So if you are in to orchestral/dark/emotional/soundtrack music, then you should check it out!

 

 

More Laptop disasters!!

Hello! As you know I had some trouble with my laptop the other day, and luckily it was fixed. However, last night I noticed my laptop wasn’t charging. So today I went into the Apple Shop, thinking I would just need a new charger, but instead I needed a new part to replace the battery and I have lost pretty much EVERYTHING on my hard drive!!!! Luckily I managed to keep all of my tracks and the bits I’ve been working on on an external hard drive, so its not the end of the world! Hopefully that will be the end of my laptop disasters, and I can get this CD finished. Hope you are all having a lovely sunny thursday! 

 

Im home!

Hey guys, I am back at home in Devon now! However on the way here, I had a bit of trouble, which almost meant that the CD would no longer happen. I got onto my second train (the 4 hour long one) and I opened up my laptop to find it wasn’t working…I kept trying and trying but no luck. So I have been to the Apple Store today, and had a brilliant guy help me and he has managed to fix it!! Apparently there was a lose wire in there, but he has sorted it and it is back to normal 🙂 So i can now get back on with my CD! 

Im getting annoyed….

So, to get straight to the point here…why does it seem like no one actually cares about what I do? I don’t think people realise how serious I am about my music, and how serious I am about making it my career. And I bet any money that if I suddenly got somewhere and did music for a film, or a TV program, that people I know would suddenly give a shit. To be fair though, I have my mum who shares my music EVERY time, and the odd person here and there might do it, and I really appreciate it. To everyone that has shared my music on a website or to friends/family, THANK YOU! To the people that ignore it, or think I’m stupid for doing what I do….well don’t expect me to let you walk all over me. 

I have a problem!!

Hello everyone! So I managed to finish that track I was saying about the other day…however…I now have a massive mental block that is completely stopping me from doing anything creative. It is possibly one of the most frustrating feelings in the world for anyone that does anything creative, and I have no idea how to get out of it. Its happened to me before, but it really isn’t a good time as I have a nice amount of time off of uni to work on Album No.2!! People say to listen to other music, which for me doesn’t really work for me. I go out on walks, I listen to music, I play games, but nothing helps! DO YOU KNOW WHAT I CAN DO?? If you do please leave a comment!

In other news, I didn’t get into trouble at work 🙂 Ive actually got loads of extra hours this week which is nice, so I can save loads of money to go on holiday with! Me and Amy (my girlfriend) have looked, and some holidays are ridiculously cheap for a week, all inclusive, so we will definitely get one of those when she finished for the summer! We aren’t really bothered where we go, as long as it is near a beach, and has lots of cool exciting places to explore! Im not really the type to sit by a pool the whole holiday. I like to go on an adventure ands explore the place I’m staying in. Unfortunately it will be in august, so there will more than likely be shit loads of people with about 5 screaming kids each…but a holiday is a holiday and I can’t wait! 😀

Back from the Festival!

Hello! Firstly, Download Festival was amazing! Saw so many bands, drank lots of beer and had hardly any sleep. It went too fast really, but now I am back and have managed to catch up on some sleep! I did miss a day at work while I was there though…they knew I couldn’t go in, and I tried to swap it, but no one could work it. So they are probably pretty annoyed at me, which means when I go in tomorrow, I will probably get in trouble….but it was worth it!!

 

Album No.2 is coming on nicely. I am working on something at the moment which is sounding cool, and hopefully I will get it finished today. I am thinking of doing a little trailer when I have finished all the music (a little while off yet), which will give you an idea of what to expect! I need to write another four tracks after this one, and then I think that will be enough. It is great having this time off of university because it means I have time to get all of this done. I have been thinking that maybe after my CD is done, I will do an EP or a short CD of electronic music. I am in to some of that stuff…mainly the darker d’n’b like Noisia though, but its just an idea at the moment. If you haven’t heard of them then check this out!!

Download Festival!

Hello guys! I still haven’t had any luck with my bike which is annoying! However, tomorrow me and my girlfriend are going to Download Festival!! I am so excited. We checked our tent yesterday, and we have our new roll mats to try out.

We also bought 40 cans of beer along with other alcoholic drinks, AND, waterproof coats…because after all the lovely hot sunny weather we have had, I can guarantee it will rain the whole time. We are both super excited to go, and it will also be a celebration for my girlfriends birthday which is today! It think we will be going for a meal tonight and might go to the cinema 🙂

 

MY BIKE HAS BEEN STOLEN!

Yes….today, my bike was stolen while I was at work. I am so gutted!! I literally go EVERYWHERE on my bike. Cycling helps me clear my head and obviously get fit. But, I’ve reported it to the police, though there isn’t much they can do. So many bikes get stolen around here apparently. Well, I guess I will have to walk around now. Not going to bother with the busses. Half the time they are late, and they are super expensive…i’m going to keep an eye on Gumtree for my bike, and if it goes on there (which I doubt very much), I will go to the house and take it back. 

Wish me luck in finding it!!
